The obverse side of the Kangaroo coin features a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II wearing a beaded tiara, drop earrings and a sumptuous string of pearls. The portrait is precisely drawn, and the realism of Elizabeth's curls is very noteworthy in the numismatic art.

The reverse side features the coin's titular kangaroo looking over its shoulder. In the background of the world's most famous marsupial is an Australian landscape decorated with eucalyptus and grass trees. The design of the reverse side changes every year.

The Kangaroo coin is investment grade gold and is therefore exempt from VAT.
